“I don’t have to leave the house an hour and a half early because of some potential problem…”
I’m not convinced that’s true. “Real-time” data is historic data when one is actually in the process of implementing the plans.
Certainly understanding and forecasting traffic patterns due to known changes like construction is valuable in your example, but at the point of leaving the house, there are still significant “potential problems” that are better mitigated by leaving early than by real-time data.
